Almost Better!

Alex has been feeling poorly off and on for nearly a month now. He had an ear infection around Memorial Day weekend which seemingly got better after a course of antibiotics but his cold symptoms never seemed to disappear completely.

Things seemed a lot worse these past 10 days especially. He had a very snotty nose to begin. His symptoms escalated with an off and on low grade fever along with extreme fussiness. Poor little guy. You could see he was full of cold with red around his eyes and nose. It was so sad to see him unhappy for that long.

Even the Spongebob balloon didn't bring about any smiles. His symptoms have developed extremely slowly so it was hard to tell that it was actually a cold in the beginning. We thought maybe it was just general fussiness.

He seems to slowly be on the mend as of a couple of days ago now. We started seeing some smiles again. They make me melt! He was finally able to sleep more than 4 hours in a row and not waking up bothered with his nose as much. He's still left with a bit of a sore throat, a hoarse voice and some nasty coughing fits, especially when he goes from lying flat to sitting up. I was a little paranoid about the cough since there's this whole epidemic on whooping cough but the doctor has assured me that his cough is due to the tail end of the cold and more so due to the post nasal drip, as is the sore throat.

We saw his pediatrician earlier today just to double check. Alex now weighs a whopping 12 lbs. My baby is getting so big!

We have one more day officially left to bond with Alex 24/7 and then Matt begins his new job on Thursday. I get one more week until I go back too. I'm really looking forward it actually. As sad as it sounds, I miss work and just the daily interactions I have even if it is just over the telephone. It will be interesting. Hopefully Alex will be a good boy and let Mommy work. I have lots of people pitching in with looking after him so apart from those nursing breaks, I should be up and running right away.

It's been pretty hot here so we've been trying to spend more time outdoors this week. Alex is going through the phase where he loves looking around at everything. Right now he's really into trees when he's in his stroller.

Alex's First (of many) Indian Party

Alex went to his first Indian party a couple weekends ago in honor of a family friend's high school graduation. He loved it!

A great family photo would not be complete without Alex stuffing his hands in his mouth!

We were a little worried about how he'd cope since he's had some fussy moments whenever we've taken him out for an extended period of time. We were really testing the waters this time too since we were attempting to take him out during the evening (parents, you know--those peak fussy hours!!)

At first I think the loud Indian music and crazy colors surprised him.

He was totally mesmerized by all the sequins and colors on the saris. It was the first time most of the people who attended our couples shower had a chance to meet him. I tried to keep him out of the spotlight while people were making speeches to the girl of the hour.

He watched Sejal perform a dance. She also danced at our wedding.

When it was finally discovered that he had arrived, his fans rushed over to him.

He was passed around like the hot little potato he is. By the end of the night he was all tuckered out. We left just as the insane dancing began. They handed out glowsticks and we managed to nab a couple.

Our little alien...

such an angel!

We were quite surprised at how well he did. He didn't complain one bit. Maybe we'll have to drag him along to more of these soirees.
