The First Half of July

July was a fun month. We had a great time seeing so many of our friends at our 4th of July bbq.
We spent the first half of the month anticipating a visit from England Grandma and Granddad aka Matt's parents aka Dot and Bob aka Dob and Bot. Yes, I mostly use the term Bot when referring to my in-laws. :) I'm not sure if they know this but I guess they do now.

Along with Bot, Pauline and Alan aka The P and the A aka Matt's parents' friends were also coming to visit. And of course we were looking forward to seeing them too!

The problem with having huge gaps between entries is that it's really hard to pick what photos I want to share. Here are some of my favorite snapshots and moments during the first half of the month. Picture heavy post ahead!

Perhaps Alex will be the next Johann Sebastian Bach. Alex is very talented pianist.

Here he is helping Bijal baking cookies for her accounting class. I know, I know...baking? accounting? What? WHY? Don't ask.

Matt and I became proud owners of the new iPhone. Alex waits patiently as always.

Clearly Alex REALLY enjoyed tummy time at 4 months old!

He rarely has moments where he's sad or upset though. When he's not sleeping or eating, he usually looks something like this.

Just woken up from a nap. He's getting better at becoming a supported sitter.

I don't remember specifically what Alex-related event wore me out on this day but remember I was feeling extremely exhausted when this was taken. Still don't see much of a resemblance.

Alex likes to take Tigger with him everywhere he goes. He's gotten very good at holding on to his toys for a long period of time too.

And he figured out cause and effect. Here's an example:

Here's a shot of Alex in (our friend) Beena's apartment building. We considered leaving him there so we could get a decent night's sleep.

No really, it did cross our minds.

But the little goober is too cute. We changed our minds.

Alex kind of forgot about the balloon for awhile and this light fixture became
the new flavor of the week. It brought about many hours of enjoyment.

He's actually looking past the turtles here and staring at the light fixture.

We gave in and got Alex a Sophie. He's was semi-indifferent about it in the beginning.

The traditional monthly shot.

A big change from 3 months to 4 is his sense of awareness. He is a lot more curious and perceptive of his surroundings.

We finally paid the Kelepouris family a visit. Matt and Alex met Peter and Jake.

We introduced rice cereal to the little goon. He thought it was weird at first
but after a view bites yummed it all up.

The rice cereal seemed to keep his tummy fuller which kept him in
an even better mood than usual. Here he is hanging out with mommy.
Again, I think he is looking up at the light switch.

Completely unrelated to Alex, Matt got me this really cool t-shirt. Had to share.

Aaaaaand speaking of Maus. Here is the famous Mau double checking work done by a contractor who came to inspect our air conditioner.

She approves.

That about covers the first half of July. It's funny how such tiny, seemingly unimportant milestones are such a big deal to us new parents.

I'll get around to posting about Bot + the P and the A's visit next time. Stay tuned!

5 Months Old!

Where do I even begin? It's been nearly a month since I last posted and even then I was behind. Alex has grown so much. He is officially 5 months old and thriving as usual. I think I will have to reverse the timeline and go backwards.

Here's the monthly photo. He's looking at me like I'm a crazy mom for snapping so many photos as per usual.

He's getting pretty good at holding his head up now

Smiley shot of the day

He's still really into light fixtures so as a treat we took him to Home Depot where he found light fixture heaven. But he decided his ball was more important at the time.

Earlier this month we got him a bumbo but his little legs were too fat.

So instead I bought him a similar type sitter made by Summer. He fits much better in this one.

He can't sit on his own quite yet but he's handling the supported sit pretty well.

He has become so much more alert this past month. He loves looking out the window when we're inside. We've been spending a lot more time outside since the weather has been so great!

This only covers this past weekend. I still have lots to update about, especially the Grandparents visiting from England.

Here's a short video of Alex chuckling. I seriously can watch the last few seconds of it over and over again like a crazy person.

He's just so precious!

I'll end on noting that it was Mau's 13th birthday last week. Bijal made her a hat and everything! She's officially a teenager...in human years. As you can tell by this photo, she's gotten to the point where she really doesn't like to discuss her age anymore.

She still doesn't love Alex but she's coming around to the idea of him. He finally outweighs her now. When Alex spots her across the room he thinks she's the funniest thing ever and let's out a giggle. He sometimes tries to grab her fur but she's done a good job of dodging his fists. I need to learn a few tips from her since he always seems to be holding on to strands of my hair.

Anyway, watch this space. I am slowly catching up on life once again and hopefully will find more time to post.
