I wish we had that baby translator machine that Herb Simpson created so we could read Alex's mind. (I'd post a clip of the scene but I can't find it. True Simpsons fans will know what I'm referring to though)
We're officially at 16 weeks as of today but not quite 4 months yet. It's confusing how that works and it still makes my brain hurt when I try to figure it all out.
So what's been going on since my last post?
Alex's cold has seemingly faded. He's been all smiles this week. Daddy went back to work on Thursday. We had some what of a tough day then but every day afterward has been great.
Thursday:
Friday
We celebrated Grandpa's 62nd birthday last week which was bittersweet for Alex.
Sadly his Spongebob balloon perished but on the upside he was introduced to not one but four new balloons -- 3 shiny happy birthday ones and a big, yellow smiley face one.
They've brought many hours of amusement. I (safely) attached one to his co-sleeper and he woke up at 4am this morning with a big grin on his face one he spotted it.
Alex has been super interested in his hands lately. There are moments in the day where he's constantly sucking and gnawing on them. And he seems to be drooling quite a bit. Maybe the beginning signs of teething. Sometimes he puts his fingers so deep into his mouth he gags himself only to stick his fingers back in 10 seconds later. He is clearly not bothered by the whole process.
I mentioned previously that he's starting to grab which has increased significantly. I have to be careful about wearing necklaces or keeping my hair loose these days because often he'll grab a fistful of my hair and yank. Here's a ball that he recently got from Grandma that has sort of resolved the problem. He loves knocking those soft blocks down too. I'll have to post a video of him later. Destructive little creature! So cute though.
Here's some great nap time photos from this week.
Afternoon snooze with Grandpa. And yes, Grandpa did really fall asleep like that.
Sleeping on Auntie Bijal's bed when she's away at work. He just loves regular beds and being snuggled up in duvets and comforters.
Mime impression?
And here are a few random snaps that make my favorites list:
Loves Mommy's sunglasses
It's been pretty hot, especially during weekends so clothing has been optional
Hanging out with Grandpa. Really, Grandpa should be wearing a bib that says "Grandson's Sidekick" since Alex usually holds all the cards.
He's wearing the Invader ZIM onesie I made him. So retro and topical at the same time.
Alex looks very strange in trousers.
Confused by daylight. Maybe he's a little bit vampire?
Mau staying in the shadows. She has actually been quite sweet while Alex has been ill. When he had his major crying episodes she came and sat by us to make sure everything was alright. She usually leaves a room when he's present but lately she has been less reluctant and more interested. Don't worry readers, we never leave her unattended with him.
Here's a video of noisy Alex. He's been laughing and babbling tons lately. Watch this space for even more videos.
