Alex started his second week of daycare yesterday. He's happy. I'm happy. So glad how things have worked out.
I'll start with a couple of the typical monthly shots. He's getting huge. 17 lbs exactly and 25.5 inches long. We went for our 6 month check up and the doctor says he is thriving and everything looks great!
He can hold his own bottle now.
We started introducing some more exciting solids. Rice cereal is so 2 months ago. In fact Alex won't have it plain anymore, it's too boring.
He has oatmeal now instead of rice cereal. As far as fruits and vegetables go:
We started with bananas, moved to apples, followed by carrots.
Carrots are his favorite so far.
Experimented with prunes. And moved on to green beans. He liked green beans the least and didn't seem to keen at first
but when I finished it off the following day he seemed to enjoy it more
Today he tried squash. His reaction was indifferent.
More foods = a stinkier baby. We have a lot more baths these days.
Dressed for success.
Um. Maybe not. Take 2
Doesn't he look so much older?
He is communicating with us a lot more. When he is awake he is always wriggling, making noises, blowing "raspberries," and so on. He LOVES to laugh and is a big smiler. He has a really nerdy chuckle.
We consider ourselves so lucky to be stuck with such a happy baby!
Here he is in his super seat weird baby contraption thing. He loves it.
Enjoying tummy time.
He is still sleeping through the night. I am still not. 5 months of waking up every few hours throughout the night really conditioned me.
Alex is very happy to be out and about So we take lots of walks and he runs errands with me. He's a great little shopping companion.
We have had some hot nights recently. When I take him in the backyard in the evenings he squees and giggles the whole time. Still fascinated by trees. We bought a great new outdoor blanket (from the new Buy Buy Baby store) and spend a lot of time just staring at the sky together.
Speaking of Buy Buy Baby, their inventory is insane. I have only been there twice and have felt extremely overwhelmed both times. They carry the most interesting and innovative products. Luckily I have avoided temptation. I still can't get over the ENTIRE wall of JUST bibs.
Alex is very curious and is interested in anything that we are holding or eating. In fact he flat out stares at me whenever I am having lunch or dinner. He likes putting everything in his little gob. Mmm yummy, a washcloth.
Fascinated by lights and sound.
As you can see quite clearly from this photo, Mau is still not impressed with our new addition. She still tolerates his attempts at petting her from time to time though.
Random Alex and Mommy shots:
And that's it! We spend most of our evenings and weekends just hanging out with our little "squishy" (Matt came up with that one). Enjoying every second we can. :)
