7 Months and then Some

Hello hello 7 months (and 13 days... I'm terrible!) There have been so many developments and milestones since I was last here.

He's a little rolly polly. He'll start at one end of the room and before you know it, end up 7 feet from his starting point in a matter of minutes. We've started to lay multiple quilts down so he doesn't get his slobbery drool on the carpet.

Last week his whole schedule got thrown off and he was waking Matt and me up at 4am. It was brutal and arguably the worst time to want breakfast. We managed to correct the situation with later daytime naps and rearranging his solids schedule. It's nice to be back on track.

He's a great little napper. He takes two, sometimes three naps a day. They're pretty consistent and last anywhere from 1-3 hours. You'd think that was enough to make a baby stay up at night but no, he still goes to bed at about 8:30pm and wakes up at 5am for his morning bottle (conveniently Matt's wake up time for work), then back down until about 7:30am when we get ready for daycare. He has the most gorgeous smile when he wakes up. Every. Single. Time.

Unlike his daddy, he loves trying a new variety of foods still and gets very excited at his meal times. He has figured out that high chair time means something yummy is coming. He doesn't squirm at all anymore when I'm trying to put a bib on him. He knows it's part of the process.
I like that he no longer stuffs his fingers in his mouth in between spoonfuls. That was gross.

He opens his mouth wide, waiting for the food to come in. Sometimes he wants it shoveled, at other times he savors every bite and gives his 'mmm' of approval.

We mostly give him Stage 2 foods now which include combos like apple-mango-rice cereal or potato-peas-carrots. I don't make as much fresh baby food as I would like to but I'm a working mom so I have to pick my battles.

We introduced a sippy cup. During the first week he has mostly figured out it's purpose. In the beginning he would only hold on to one handle. Then he went through a phase where he would suck on the underside or a handle...anything but the spout.

Now he understands that he can get water from it but tilting is still a challenge. This week the cup is a major source of his frustration. If you take it away, he gets irritated. Even though it's no fun seeing him upset over it, I like seeing that he's developing and his little personality is growing.

Progress..

Last weekend we took him to the pumpkin patch by our house. He was very interested and fascinated by a pumpkin stem of all things. He tried to eat it. Twice.

I also had a chance to meet up with Amber and Jake at the mall for one of our weekly walks. While I was waiting on them, we went to some baby stores to look for hats. He was checking out the quality of the girls clothes. Maybe he has a secret girlfriend that we don't know about. Or maybe he was shopping for Mau.

Alex is still very curious and intrigued by Mau. He occassionally tries to pet/ bat at her or outright grab. She usually tolerates it for about 5 seconds and then walks away. She still refuses to be friends with him. Hopefully she'll come around soon.
