Just Over 6 Weeks Old

I'm only feeling a million days behind on posting. Alex and I just got back from a Mommy and Me session as well as a doctor's appointment. He broke out in a rash yesterday. He's had baby acne all week and we consulted one of our many baby manuals which said we shouldn't freak out and it's normal. But yesterday's breakout looked more serious than acne. He didn't seem bothered but we wanted to double check. Turns out it's not acne and indeed a rash, the doctor gave us some latin term but I already forgot it. Main point is that it isn't serious and eventually it will pass.

Edit: I may just cry a little right now. I have been working on this post all day off and on, trying to steal pockets of time in between feedings and my blog was autosaving every few minutes or so. I went to publish the post and I lost everything because somewhere in between my posting Matt logged onto his gmail account and the system got confused. BOO.

So this post may be a little quicker and not as colorful as some in the past because I am pressed for time.

Here's Alex in one of his new outfits. He's nearly 8 lbs now. Growing so quick.

This was taken on one of our morning walks to the park. I love how his hat is askew at least 70% of the time. He was having a spit up day so we decided to keep his bib on for safe measure.

In addition to walks to the park we often head to the mall and do a few rounds. Here's Matt grabbing a quick bite. We often forget to feed ourselves.

Speaking of forgetting meals my cousin Samir came over on Saturday night and brought
dinner with him. He figured since it's still a little overwhelming for us to go out for a meal, he'd
bring a meal to us. So very thoughtful! We had a great night doing nothing special - just watching old Southpark episodes and catching the hockey game.

With the weekend being warmer (high 70s) he was able to wear something more summery. This little number was sent to him from Grandma in England.

He's a lot more alert these days and we're getting shots where his eyes are actually open.

Days and nights often blend into one. I can't remember what day or time I took this, but I do remember it being a ridiculous hour and a really bad night for us. Alex decided he wasn't going to let us sleep. We tried to swaddle him, unswaddle him, rock him, sing to him, hold him, not hold him, have his noise machine off, then on, then off again...we tried many things that night and nothing worked. On a side note, I just noticed his outfit and crib sheet match lol.

Of course by 7am he decided that was a good time for him to take a nap. And I know they say we should sleep when baby sleeps but by 7am I am usually ravenous and like to sneak in at least a quick shower. I'm still finding it hard to sleep any time before 1pm when it comes to a nap.

Here's Matt looking totally goofy. He loves being a dad and he has been spectacular with not only Alex but taking care of a lot of household tasks too.

Alex looks like he's ready to eat lobster with that crazy bib on.

Shortly after this photo we had a bit of a poop incident. Alex somehow managed to poop through his diaper, outfit and onto Matt. We rushed him to the bath. He was really calm and good as gold through the whole washing experience. Here he is after his bath all squeaky clean.

After bathtime came naptime. Here he is with Grandpa.

Here's a photo that was taken this morning. I took it to show off the lovely pink bolero that my Mother-in-Law knitted as a birthday present. Since I still had my maternity body I couldn't really fit into it. I'm still working on getting back in shape but at least I can fit into most of my old clothes again.

And let's not forget little Mau. She does not like sleeping in our room anymore because she can't stand all of Alex's little grunts and cries during the middle of the night. She has relocated to Bijal's room where she can find peace and quiet.
