3 Months Old

We're officially 3 months old today. I know I say this every time but I can't believe it is going by so fast. We've had so much happen this past month. But first some official "I'm 3 Months Old" shots.

The biggest breakthrough really is that Alex recognizes us!

He'll still smile at strangers, especially when they look him straight in the eye and coo or talk to him. But he's beginning to sort out who's who in his life, and he definitely prefers me, Matt, my sister and my parents over others.

He's been able to self soothe himself, especially during evenings. Yes, he still tends to be a little fussier at night than during the day but he can now sit in his swing for ages and keep himself busy by staring at the dangly toys from the mobile or something in the room. Yesterday he was amused by a Spongebob balloon. He laughs at the most random things and often he looks like he's just thought of the funniest thing ever and he just smiles to himself. I wish I knew what he was thinking. I feel a bit left out not knowing what's so amusing. I'm glad he's such a happy baby.

Here's a video of him and his expressions. It may seem a bit uneventful but it's mainly for my enjoyment (and Grandma and Grandpas who may also find it interesting).

At times he searches for me in a room and move his arms in excitement or smile when he finds me. When he hears my voice or Matt's he looks directly at us and starts gurgling or trying to talk back.

He's also starting to become much more aware of the world around him. We talk about our surroundings when we take him for a walk, and point to and identify objects as we roam the grocery store aisles. We're exposing him to as much Gujarati as we can. We're still reading as many books as we can to him.

Some other new developments that have been going on:

Grasping.

Alex still can't grab what he wants accurately, but he can bat at toys over and over. He's also developing his hand-eye coordination, noticing things he'd like to hold and attempting to reach for them. He likes to swipe at fun things dangling above him on the baby gym instead of just staring at them.

He also likes to grab at my hand, face, hair whatever he can get his hands on.

Here's a money shot. Literally.

Drool.

This is something he has been doing a lot more of lately. He also likes to make spit bubbles. Both cute and gross at the same time.

Tears.
He had his very first tear a few weeks ago. It was during the ear infection period. Thankfully we haven't seen too many. They are really sweet though.

Sleeping.

He is still sleeping in our bedroom with us. He's very good throughout the night and all 3 of us are happy with the arrangement. Even Mau is cool with sleeping at the edge of the bed again since Alex isn't screeching and screaming every hour like he did in the beginning during those growth spurt weeks. He only wakes up a few times at night to eat and usually goes right back to sleep.

He's pretty good with his naps too.

Growing.

He has completely grown out of all NB sized clothing and even some of the 0-3 month sized ones are starting to look a bit snug. We're using size 2 diapers now too. This is one of my favorite outfits. Yay, aliens!

Look at the little feet. How cute are they?

And it's been awhile, so here are some random Mau shots. We tried to introduce Alex to her again but she's still not interested.

I just realized I forgot to officially weigh him but I'll have to sneak that in tomorrow and pretend that I weighed him today. We did a rough estimate yesterday and he was 11 lbs and 6 oz with his clothes and diaper on. Such a big boy now! I love him to pieces!!
